Get all the news regarding the software update for the Galaxy Note 8 handsets here, for all the popular models including those in the US at T-Mobile, Sprint, Cellular, AT&T, and Verizon Wireless. Accordingly, the page is divided into sections, as per model no., each having a table listing the latest software version and its changelog monthly security patches. We also discuss the Note 8’s eligibility for Android 10 and what are the alternatives. Will Note 8 get Android 10? The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is an exceptional device in its own right. Despite being over two years old, the device is still considered to be one of the best Note-series smartphones ever, and the legacy is set to remain untarnished for a long, long time. Sadly, Samsung’s not too keen on giving its 2017 devices a taste of the latest Android, so, it’s safe to say that Note 10, too, will not be updated to Android 10. → Android 10 release date Why Note 8 is not getting Android 10? Note 8 came with Android Nougat out of the box and has already received two Android OS upgrades Oreo and Pie since. Samsung usually limits its flagships to two major Android OS updates, and we don’t expect the company to break the pattern with Note 8. Galaxy S9 running Pie left Galaxy S10 running Android 10 right The Note 8 may not get the Android 10 update officially, but all hope isn’t certainly lost. Geniuses over at XDA Developers have a reputation for supporting outdated devices, and you’d be wise to keep tabs on the Note 8 development thread. Even if an unofficial Android 10 comes out, it won’t probably be before Q1 of 2020. So, make sure to manage your expectations. Software update timeline Global Note 8 Android 10 is not expected on the Galaxy Note 8 as the device is past its two guaranteed OS updates Pie and Oreo, having launched with Android Nougat. Samsung is very clever while launching their note series they release their note series just before the next android update so that they can update their devices to upcoming android and has to give just one more update. On the other hand S series launches near February & March and has latest android update. Like S11/20 is coming and it will have Android 10 and will have 2 major updates while note series launches in September/October when new android update is around the corner. Samsung must give atleast 3 updates for their Note series and if they do so Note users would be happy. Previous 1 2 Next

Unfortunately, the extremely high-selling S9 series and Note 9 series are excluded this time, and the current Android version stops at OneUI 2.1 based on 10.0.. In addition, Samsung also
The Galaxy S8 and Note 8 are unlikely to ever receive Android 10 officially. Image source Phone ArenaThe Galaxy S8 and Note 8 may now be two generations old, but they are still mighty powerful smartphones. Although they have started life on Android Nougat too, both can now be upgraded to Android 10. The Exynos 8895 and Snapdragon 835 should be well-suited for running Google's latest OS, Samsung prompted speculation last week that the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 would eventually receive One UI its custom version of Android 10, there are no guarantees. If the company's past behaviour is anything to go by, then the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 will be abandoned on Android Pie builds of One UI. By extension, this would apply to the Galaxy S8 Plus too, although all three are capable of running Google's latest OS. Samsung is releasing One UI to newer but less powerful smartphones than its trio of former flagships too, so we doubt there are any hardware restrictions at play. Thankfully, community developers are on hand where official developers are not. Several on the XDA Developers forums have already brought Lineage OS to the Galaxy S8, S8 Plus and Note 8, albeit an unofficial version of it. LineageOS is, for those who are unaware, an open-source OS that forked from CyanogenMod in 2016. Please keep in mind that you must have TWRP installed before you can flash Lineage OS or any custom ROM for that matter. Unlocking the bootloader of your device is a prerequisite for installing TWRP, too. The unofficial Lineage OS projects are also in their infancy. Both launched yesterday and are currently affected by several bugs. The bug list is as followsSignal bar is broken, it's like empty most of the timeScreen CastStock Camera Video recording is brokenSome Bluetooth headphones don't work apparently. But some permissiveIf you are interested in flashing Lineage OS to your device, then you will also need to grab the latest version of GApps. Once both are downloaded, then simply reboot to recovery, flash both packages and then reboot your device. Personally, we would wait a few weeks before the community developers address some of the bugs listed above. However, the ROM should eventually prove a good alternative of upgrading your Galaxy S8, S8 Plus or Note 8 to Android 10 if Samsung never gets around to bringing One UI to the three devices. Last updated September 17th, 2019 at 1531 UTC+0200 Is my Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8 going to be updated to Android 10? That’s a question many have been asking in the last couple of months, and with Google recently releasing the Android 10 update for its Pixel devices, interest in the newest version of the OS has increased further. While Samsung will update plenty of phones to Android 10, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 are not going to be among them. No Android 10 update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 The reason is simple Samsung has always offered only two major upgrades for its flagship devices. The company also provides the same number of major upgrades to mid-range and budget devices as well, and while it’s unfortunate that Samsung doesn’t make a distinction between flagship phones and lower-end devices, it is what it is. The Galaxy S8, S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 were launched with Android Nougat out of the box and were subsequently updated to Android Oreo and Android Pie, so they have already received the updates they were eligible for. In short, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 users are going to have to make do with Android Pie on their phones and will need to buy a newer Galaxy smartphone — like a Galaxy S9, Note 9, Galaxy S10, or Galaxy Note 10 — to take advantage of Android 10 and version of Samsung’s One UI interface, which will accompany the Android 10 update. Even if Samsung changes its mind and decides to offer a third major upgrade for its flagship phones, the company is unlikely to apply the updated policy to its 2017 Galaxy S and Note flagships. Are you rocking a Galaxy S8, S8+ or Galaxy Note 8? Would Android 10 be a reason you would upgrade to a newer phone, or are you content with the features you are able to take advantage of on Android Pie? FYmNU3. 481 121 51 401 262 178 335 356 85
